Sophie Porter, Manager of Client Support

With her dedication to teamwork and client-oriented service, Sophie has become an essential part of our operations since joining us in 2018, first as Adviser Support Team Leader and now as Manager of Client Support.

Sophie’s diverse background in administration and customer services spans across many different roles and industries, including electricity, health insurance, cinema, the NHS, supplies and procurement. Right before joining Advice4Life, she was a regional support services team leader for Whanau Awhina Plunket.

She says, “there are many similarities between financial advisers and nurses, both roles need empathy, the ability to explain complex ideas, and there’s a real responsibility to help people get through tough times.”

The team spirit at Advice4Life is what Sophie enjoys the most. “It’s all about people, and I really like working with the team here,” she shares. “We all thrive on positive client outcomes, especially helping with insurance claims. Sometimes clients are initially unaware they’re eligible, so by helping them, we can make a real difference in people’s lives.”

Outside of the office, Sophie tries to go deep-sea fishing at least a couple of times a year, a hobby she’s enjoyed since childhood. Each journey on the open water is different, providing an escape from the fast-paced rhythm of life on land.
